Humanist plans God-less 'congregation'
Greg Epstein, the humanist chaplain at Harvard University, is building a God-free model of community that he hopes helps humanists increase in numbers and influence.
Epstein sees potential in research showing that there are more people with no religion. In the latest American Religious Identification Survey, released this month, 15 percent of respondents in 2008 said they had no religion, compared to 8.2 percent in 1990. Epstein believes that group includes large numbers of people who are humanist, but have never identified themselves that way and can be reached.
At the same time, there is broader acceptance of those with no faith, as indicated by President Barack Obama's mention of "nonbelievers" in his inaugural address, Epstein said.
Definitions of humanism vary. Generally, humanists reject belief in the supernatural and are guided by reason, experience and compassion for others. Epstein defines the philosophy as a commitment to living ethical, personally fulfilling lives while serving the greater good.

Bringing Israel's Lost Tribe Home
But one Jewish organization believes it has found the lost tribe, called Bnei Menashe, and plans to bring them home.
Daniel is part of the Bnei Menashe tribe in India. They are believed to be descendants of the 10 lost tribes of Israel who were exiled from their homeland almost 3,000 years ago.
The Bnei Menashe practice Judaism, observing the sabbath, keeping kosher and even celebrating Jewish festivals-- all while living in India and hoping to someday return to the promise land.
Michael Freund is working to bring the Bnei Menshe to Israel.
"They see it as the fulfillment of the of biblical prophecy. which i believe it is," he explained.

Floods cause havoc in US Midwest
Floodwaters from the Red River, which is expected to peak later this week, have closed roads and bridges.
National guardsmen and volunteers are reinforcing flood defences.
The rising waters are also affecting the neighbouring state of Minnesota which, like North Dakota, borders the Red River on its route towards Canada.
A blizzard has brought snow and freezing rain to North Dakota and high winds have knocked out the electricity supply to some towns in the state.
Hundreds of miles of highways and roads have been blocked in North Dakota and the neighbouring states of Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota and Nebraska.

IDF to U.S.: Israel Closing In on Taking Military Aim at Iran
The newspaper quoted sources that claimed Lieutenant-General Ashkenazi told American officials that Israel is preparing for a military attack. He added that the government still prefers to see if the Western world’s diplomatic pressures can succeed in stopping the growing threat that Iran soon will manufacture a nuclear weapon.
The new information concerned the facility in Arak, where a heavy water nuclear reactor is estimated to be operating. Iran also is building the Bushehr nuclear reactor at Natanz, where scientists will be able to enrich uranium that can be used for a bomb.

Where Is Jesus In Today's Society
Where Is Jesus In Today's Society
After reading the account of Jesus' life in the Bible it doesn't take too long to realize where Jesus would be in our society today. He didn't hang out with the politicians, religious leaders, or even the kings of His day. Jesus was in the midst of the lowly, the outcasts, the sinners, the tax collectors, the unloved and the hurting people in His society. Jesus was criticized for the company that He kept.
Has anything changed since that time? I don't believe so. The Bible teaches in Hebrews 13:8 that " Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever." I believe that He can still be found in the same places in our society today. He is still with the sinner. He is with the person who is struggling with addiction. He is sitting right next to the homeless man on the street. He is holding the hand of the little child who is hungry and alone. And right next to the one who is filled with grief and has no hope. He is with those that have found themselves in prison and have no way out.
He is even sitting right next to the people who deny His very existence, waiting patiently for them to turn to Him. Their doubts and unbelief don't deter him because He knows that none of us can make it with out Him. He loves these people too. He is even right next to the people who mock Him. He loves the people that even we have a hard time loving ourselves. He is with those people that irritate us, those that we can't get a long with and even those that we think we are better than. How easy ii is to forget that He is the creator of us all.
When you take the step to reach out to someone who is in need of help or comfort you are going to find that Jesus is standing there right next to you. Jesus counts on us to continue His work here on Earth. We are His hands and feet and quite possibly the only Jesus that someone will ever meet today. If we all took the focus off of ourselves and our problems today and made an attempt to reach out to someone less fortunate than ourselves we would find out exactly where Jesus is in our society today. Maybe it is even someone in our own family that needs our help.
If you run across someone that is wondering where He is you can point them in the right direction. Tell them about the hurting, lost and the lonely people in our society, because that is where you are going to find Him. We all know where these people are, and it is truly a joyous experience to reach out to them and to work along side with Jesus. My hope is that you will experience this for yourself.

Why Is Jesus Waiting?
Every day we're deluged by waves of bad news.
As a Christian watching and waiting for the Lord Jesus to fulfill His promise of returning to Earth to set up His kingdom of peace, love and righteousness, I keep an eye on world events to discern the biblical signs that foretell of that blessed Second Coming. And so, day after day after day I peruse an endless list of news stories in search of those signs. They are very easy to find, but in the search I also discover that the world is filled with horror. That horror can stamp out any glimmer of hope.
Like standing stalwart against the crashing surf, all these constant updates on how bad the world is can eventually erode a person down. Each morning's wakeup has become tinged with a subtle dread of knowing that I'll have to hear about some injustice, atrocity or murder. My corporate prayer times are filled with reports of moral collapse and further acts that persecute believers in Christ and take the life of the innocent. My personal prayer times seem to more and more address the consequences of man's inhumanity to man. And worse, I gaze at my children and feel a deep sadness that they will not experience the earthly opportunities and freedoms that the American dream had once provided.
On top of all the terrible news of today, as a student of Bible prophecy I'm also laden with the knowledge of the future horrors of tomorrow. The human institutions of justice created to uphold moral law that so many have bled to establish have been corrupted and will disintegrate into a totalitarian regime ruled by a megalomaniac world leader. Within a few short years, three quarters of the world's population are going to be annihilated by nuclear war, raging famine, deadly pestilence and mass death. Freedom of religion will be stamped out. Those who call Christ "Savior" will be hunted like deer and exterminated. The world will visibly be in the grip of the cruel and merciless Prince of this Age — Satan.
And how do I cope with all this badness in the world and the knowledge to come? Initially, my lunch breaks have shifted from Channel 8 news to pre-recordings of American Idol, and from late night surfing of the news sites to Netflix. The wars I can control are played out in Command & Conquer games. But, these escapisms are only fleeting respites.
Why Jesus is Waiting
Honest coping — coping that heals the soul — finally arrives when one truly understands why Jesus is waiting to return, allowing the evil in the world to rage on in the meantime. The key to that understanding lies in 2 Peter 3:9 which reads, "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
The verse teaches that Jesus waits because not everyone who will accept Him as Savior during the present Church Age has yet done so.
Responding
I could get mad, and probably in moments of weakness have, that I'm saved and am all set to go. Bring it on!
But, what if Jesus had come back the day before I had accepted Him as Savior? What if Jesus was to return before your spouse, your child, your parents or best friend have accepted Him, leaving them to experience the wrath He has promised to let loose in judgment upon the whole world? Those questions put my anxiousness for His return into true perspective.
That Jesus hasn't returned yet is amazingly a mercy. The world is in a sorry state of affairs because mankind's free will and Satan's moment of ruling have made it so. But, to have the opportunity to be rescued from our sin and be granted eternal life by the true King of the Universe, the King who one day WILL fulfill His promises of destroying all evil and establishing His perfect kingdom... well, that life-saving chance is far too important when compared to our present limited time of suffering.
Jesus loves us, and I love Him for being so merciful. He is patient in returning because He wants everyone to have the opportunity to come to repentance and choose Jesus as Savior. Fortified with that knowledge, I think my day just got a whole lot brighter!

Global crisis 'to strike by 2030'
By 2030 the demand for resources will create a crisis with dire consequences, Prof John Beddington said.
Demand for food and energy will jump 50% by 2030 and for fresh water by 30%, as the population tops 8.3 billion, he told a conference in London.
Climate change will exacerbate matters in unpredictable ways, he added.
'Complacent'
"It's a perfect storm," Prof Beddington told the Sustainable Development UK 09 conference.
"There's not going to be a complete collapse, but things will start getting really worrying if we don't tackle these problems."
Prof Beddington said the looming crisis would match the current one in the banking sector.

Abbas: 'Jerusalem is the key to peace'
Speaking at an event marking 'Jerusalem, Capital of Arab Culture for 2009' Day in Bethlehem, Abbas asserted that Israel's policies of "racism, oppression, land-grabbing and demolitions" must stop before peace negotiations could continue.
He also called on Palestinians to "stand up for Jerusalem, the capital of Palestine." The PA president vowed "we will continue to strive for peace… peace based on the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, on the 1967 borders, whose capital is Jerusalem."
On Saturday afternoon, police prevented more than a dozen events from taking place, making at least 20 arrests in the process.
On the Temple Mount in the Old City, police officers prevented groups of students from entering the Aksa Mosque waving PLO flags.
Officers also detained for questioning three university employees in Al Kuds University, who were intending to distribute shirts commemorating the event.

Is this the end of America?
For the rest of the world, however, the worry is that America is at risk of becoming the fountainhead of a new inflationary outburst. The U.S. dollar is now in decline, gold is moving sharply higher, and new global currency turmoil is on the horizon.
It may not happen. A paper just published by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, source of the chart above, says that the Fed will have to be prepared to absorb all the excess money it has poured into the U.S. economy. It will be a technical and political challenge unlike any central bank has ever undertaken. The future of America is at stake.
Full Story
I believe that America's future is in God's hands, and events are turning out according to His plan. The fact remains that it is not a good thing that we have turned our back on Him. Sometimes I wonder if he is not saying 'have it your way'. Has he turned us over to our greed and blindness? When will we wake up as a nation and realize that we do not have all of the answers and when we will realize our need for Him?
Deadly airborne fungus could devastate Africa, say scientists
Ug99 – so called because it was first seen in Uganda in 1999 – is a new variety of an old crop disease called "stem rust", which spread from Africa to Iran and has blighted wheat production in many parts of the world for thousands of years. The fungus was thought to have largely disappeared since the 1960s when disease-resistant varieties were developed and widely planted in both the west and in developing countries.
Scientists meeting in Mexico to exchange information on Ug99 are alarmed because the new disease specifically targets resistance genes in wheat. As a result, it is now believed that 80-90% of all wheat varieties grown in developing countries are susceptible to the fungus.
Ug99 is particularly dangerous because it can infect crops very quickly and releases vast clouds of invisible spores which can be carried by the wind for hundreds of miles.

U.N. panel says world should ditch dollar
Currency specialist Avinash Persaud, a member of the panel of experts, told a Reuters Funds Summit in Luxembourg that the proposal was to create something like the old Ecu, or European currency unit, that was a hard-traded, weighted basket.
Russia is also planning to propose the creation of a new reserve currency, to be issued by international financial institutions, at the April G20 meeting, according to the text of its proposals published on Monday.
"Today the Americans complain that when the world wants to save, it means a deficit. A shared (reserve) would reduce the possibility of global imbalances."

Kremlin to push new global currency at G20
The International Monetary Fund should investigate the possible creation of a new reserve currency, widening the list of reserve currencies or using its already existing Special Drawing Rights, or SDRs, as a "superreserve currency accepted by the whole of the international community," the Kremlin said in a statement issued on its web site.
The SDR is an international reserve asset, created by the IMF in 1969 to supplement the existing official reserves of member countries.
The Kremlin has persistently criticized the dollar's status as the dominant global reserve currency and has lowered its own dollar holdings in the last few years. Both President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin have repeatedly called for the ruble to be used as a regional reserve currency, although the idea has received little support outside of Russia.
Analysts said the new Kremlin proposal would elicit little excitement among the G20 members.

Webster's dictionary redefines 'marriage'
"I was shocked to see that Merriam-Webster changed their definition of the word 'marriage,' a word which has referred exclusively to a contract between a man and a woman for centuries. It has now added same sex," YouTube user Eric B. noted to WND.
"The 1992 Webster's Dictionary does not mention same sex at all," he wrote.
The new definition references "marriage" as the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife. But the definition also includes "the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage."

Report: Russia may base bombers in Cuba
Maj. Gen. Anatoly Zhikharev, chief of staff of Russia's long-range aviation, said Cuba had air bases with four or five suitable runways.
Interfax reported that he said Cuba could be used to base Russian bombers if the two countries "display a political will", adding "we are ready to fly there."
Zhikharev also said that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has offered an island as a temporary base for Russian planes.
Zhikharev said Chavez had offered "a whole island with an airdrome, which we can use as a temporary base for strategic bombers," the agency reported. "If there is a corresponding political decision, then the use of the island ... by the Russian Air Force is possible."

It's All Coming Together
by Heidi Swander
I read an article recently that began with these chilling words, "The Institute for Health Freedom (IHF) warns that the economic stimulus bill mandates electronic health records for every citizen without providing for opt-out or patient consent provisions." By now you most likely know this. (If not, I refer you to Jan's Feb. 21st program where she spoke about this topic with Twila Brase of the Citizens' Council on Healthcare.)
Think the mandated inclusion of electronic health records is a creation of the currently-officiating members of our executive and legislative branches? Think again. From a careful reading of chapter 8 in the book, It Could Happen Tomorrow, by Gary Frazier, I discovered that this is a well-orchestrated plan that has been in the works for some time.

China condemns US warship deployment as tensions mount
The decision by President Obama to send an armed escort for US surveillance ships in the area follows the aggressive and co-ordinated manoeuvres of five Chinese boats on Sunday. The vessels harassed and nearly collided with the unarmed USNS Impecccable.
One unidentified officer quoted in the China Daily newspaper said that the decision was disproportionate. While China’s Foreign Ministry has so far kept tight-lipped on the latest development, the decision to run such a comment so swiftly in the state-run English-language newspaper was a signal of Beijing’s concerns.

101 Last Day Prophecies
(Isaiah 42:9)
"Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, 'My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure'."
(Isaiah 46:9-10)
“Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am He."
(John 13:19)
The Bible foretells many signs that would culminate in the last days. Jesus indicated these signs would arise together as His return drew near (Matthew 24:33-34). Though many of these prophecies won’t climax until the tribulation period, our generation is the first to see every trend in place. As the final seconds of this age tick away, these events will come into even clearer focus. Keep in mind as you read through this list that these prophecies were penned 1900 to 3500 years ago!

Encouragement and Asking Why
There are many Christians who have wondered why. Why was suffering or pain allowed to enter their lives. Some may have even asked God 'why'. I know I am one of those Christians.
Have you ever wondered why we go through the things we do?
God said:
If you never felt pain, then how would you know that I'm a Healer?
If you never went through difficulties, how would you know that I'm a Deliverer?
If you never had a trial, how could you call yourself an over comer?
If you never felt sadness, how would you know that I'm a Comforter?
If you never made a mistake, how would you know that I'm forgiving?
If you knew all, how would you know that I will answer your questions?
If you never were in trouble, how would you know that I will come to your rescue?
If you never were broken, then how would know that I can make you whole?
If you never had a problem, how would you know that I can solve them?
If you never had any suffering, then how would you know what Jesus went through?
If you never went through the fire, then how would you become pure?
If I gave you all things, how would you appreciate them?
If I never corrected you, how would you know that I love you?
If you had all power, then how would you learn to depend on me?
If your life was perfect, then what would you need Me for?
Thank you, God!
I truly believe that it is not until we know God as Comforter or Healer that we can began to reach out to others and offer them hope in their suffering and pain.

The bank did not provide a specific estimate, but bank officials said its economists would be publishing one in the next several weeks.
Until now, even extremely pessimistic forecasters have predicted that the global economy would eke out a tiny expansion but had warned that even a growth rate of 5 percent in China would be a disastrous slowdown, given the enormous pressure there to create jobs for the country's rural population.

North Korea threatens 'war' if satellite is shot down
Pyongyang also cut off a military hot line with the South, causing a complete shutdown of their border and stranding hundreds of South Koreans staying at an industrial zone in the North Korean border city of Kaesong.
The warning came as US and South Korean troops kicked off their annual war games across the South, exercises the North has condemned as preparation for an invasion. Pyongyang last week threatened South Korean passenger planes flying near its airspace during the drills.

A Warning?
AN URGENT MESSAGE
I am compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message to all on our mailing list, and to friends and to bishops we have met all over the world.
AN EARTH-SHATTERING CALAMITY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. IT IS GOING TO BE SO FRIGHTENING, WE ARE ALL GOING TO TREMBLE - EVEN THE GODLIEST AMONG US.
For ten years I have been warning about a thousand fires coming to New York City. It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires—such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago.
There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting—including Times Square, New York City. What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God’s wrath. In Psalm 11 it is written,
“If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (v. 3).
God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations. He is destroying the secular foundations.
The prophet Jeremiah pleaded with wicked Israel, “God is fashioning a calamity against you and devising a plan against you. Oh, turn back each of you from your evil way, and reform your ways and deeds. But they will say, It’s hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart” (Jeremiah 18:11-12).
In Psalm 11:6, David warns, “Upon the wicked he will rain snares (coals of fire)…fire…burning wind…will be the portion of their cup.” Why? David answered, “Because the Lord is righteous” (v. 7). This is a righteous judgment—just as in the judgments of Sodom and in Noah’s generation.

Yadlin: 'Iran has crossed the technological nuclear threshold'
An article today in the Jerusalem Post reports that Iran has crossed that technology threshold. The article also reports that the 'UN's International Atomic Energy Agency said last week that it had been wrong in earlier reports and now had evidence that Iran has enough enriched uranium to make a nuclear weapon. '
'With the amount of centrifuges it is using in the enrichment process, Iran could add about 100 kg. of uranium to its stockpile each month, or even more, considering that it is setting up additional ready-to-go centrifuges every day. '

The Four Horsemen of The Apocalypse
The "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" is a term used to describe four horsemen that appear in the Christian Bible in chapter six of the Book of Revelation. The four horsemen are named after what they bring violence, famine, conquest, and disease.
The rider of the second horse or the red horse is believed to represent war. Revelation 6:4 - "And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword."
The third horseman or the black rider is believed to represent famine. Revelation 6:5 - 6:6 - “And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.’”
The fourth horseman represents death and is pale in color. The pale color could represent sickness, death, or fear. Revelation 6:7 - 6:8 - “And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a pale green horse; and he that sat on him was called Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, and that they(the four horsemen) should kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.”
For those that study Bible prophecy and know the lateness of the hour, you can hear the hoofbeats approaching in the distance.
No Peace Without Dividing Jerusalem
"There won't be peace if part of Jerusalem does not become the capital of the Palestinian state," said Olmert, speaking at Kibbutz Yifat in the Galilee.
During Israeli-Palestinian peace talks that were relaunched in 2007, though are currently stalled, the Fatah-controlled Palestinian Authority demanded parts of Jerusalem as the capital of a future state.
The prime minister's comments came after Palestinian militants in Gaza fired a mortar round into the western Negev on Friday. The attack caused no casualties.
